music together® white star

Did you know all children are musical?

This research-based program is based on the belief that all children are musical. All children can learn to singin tune and keep a steady beat and enjoy the music of their culture. But these activities are learned, and best learned through developmentally appropriate experiential activities and through the model of their primary caregivers.

What does this mean?

That children learn to sing the same way they learn to talk and walk and eat – through play and watching and imitating their primary caregivers, whether that means parent, grandparent, babysitter or nanny.

What does a Music Together® class look like?

In a Music Together® class, a group of six to twelve children and their grownups meet for 45 minutes each week to enjoy songs, chants, movement activities and much silliness. The Music Together teacher, who is trained in early childhood music skills, guides the class through developmentally appropriate and fun activities. The grownups participate – regardless of musical ability! – have fun and enjoy the musical activities with their children. At Shine, we recognize that music connects spirit, mind & body. And music connects families! When families sing together in a Music Together class, they come together in a unique way. They are creating together, telling their stories through music – and the marvelous thing is that even the youngest child in the class can participate in telling that story. Come to Shine and experience the Joy of Family Music!®
